When Russia strikes deep at the heart of the United States with a stealth attack, Mitch finds himself leading a counterattack to take back Washington, D.C. from the hands of the enemy.
Assuming the name “Sitch” as his alias, Mitch’s hard-won battle experience makes him an ideal strategist: logical, steady, and able to win over high-ranking generals with his combat plans. With the capital reclaimed, he turns south, where the war is far from over.
In the swamps of Louisiana, Mitch finds Rebecca, the legendary Witch of the Water and one of the few Shadows who made it stateside. Together, they rescue an orphaned girl from the rubble of an invaded city. But it has been years since Mitch saw Nissi, the sweet girl he fell in love with as a child and whom he can never forget. Can time ever heal the deepest of wounds, or will the scar tissue of Mitch’s dark deeds drive both Rebecca and Nissi far from him forever?
As he battles to save the country he is defending, honor the deepest longings of his heart, and protect those he cares for, Mitch comes face to face with his darkest enemies once more.
